Hopspot: P3 Brewing Company, Sardinia

Tucked away in an industrial estate, we visit one of Sardinia’s few worthwhile craft breweries.

Our Sardinia hopspot came in the shape of the P3 Brewing Company. We didn’t know the beer at all; it was pure Googling that dug it up. And there was a bit of driving around and confused faces before we found it – they’re based on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Sassari in the north of Sardinia. If you put the address into Google Maps it’s not really obvious that you’re in the right place – nothing around there looks like a brewery.

You need to look out for the small red sign with the name on it and then it’s down the track next to it. We had to ring the bell before Giacomo let us in. He had just been clearing up after a day of brewing so was still in his wellies but spoke good English and was happy to talk about the craft brewing industry in Sardinia. We immediately spotted several certificates from various years of the Brussels Beer Challenge, which of course we couldn’t not mention, what with coming from the beer capital and all that.

Giacomo briefly showed us around the small brewery and pointed out the steps in the process. This was free, but then there were also no tastings. We were able to buy some of the beers, but they only had some available so we ended up taking away some Speed, 50 Nodi and 100 Nodi, at 6 euros for a large (75cl) bottle.
